The Role - Systems & Data Engineer Systems Engineer Systems Engineer will represent Samos as the lead in development activities in conjunction with the internal Samos business development and operational teams as well as our extended development shop partners - you will be dedicated to developing and enhancing capabilities and collaborating with in-house, cloud and SaaS vendor ecosystem. Our Systems Engineer will provide technical expertise and act as a technical liaison consulting with these internal and external stakeholders on technical, security, compatibility, availability and other requirements. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills to build secure, scalable, de-coupled applications that can integrate with an internal and external technology landscape. As a technical lead and conduit to the business requirements within the team, this role will follow agile practices and be a great team player. This role will significantly contribute to developing digital capabilities and in demonstrating the best techniques necessary for successfully delivering features, stories and tasks using agile practices. Bring technical expertise and contribute through sharing and collaborating with other team members Support the build by optimizing and scaling the service delivery platform and infrastructure Contribute to establishing, update, evangelize and advance systems development standards and practices Bring an innovative mindset to always search for a better way in the best interest of the customer’s journey with us Participate in code reviews and design reviews to ensure compliance with development standards Review and contribute to architectural diagrams, interface specifications, class structures, and other design documents as required Designs, analyzes, programs, debugs, troubleshoots, and modifies software applications for enhancements and new products. Formulates and defines system scope and objectives for assigned projects combining knowledge and disciplines of all aspects of a computing system (i.e., program stack, networking utilization, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation) and develops and / or maintains advanced knowledge of computing system integration and makes recommendations or decisions on software configurations and deployments. Oversee the installation, configuration, testing and maintenance of operating systems, application software, and system management tools Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with development partners to implement those fixes Manages and expands relationships with outsourced development partners on software and systems design and development Reviews and evaluates designs and project activities for compliance with systems design and development guidelines and standards; Work with business and technology partners to define, develop and document detailed data requirements based on business and technology needs. Participate as the data lead member of an agile team focused on developing new capabilities, including agile ceremonies. Collaborate with executives, engineers, product owners and other partners and stakeholders to deliver an end-to-end capability from conceptualization to data production-deployment. Data analysis, profiling, clean-up, data wrangling and validation - based on these actions, provide recommendations for data remediation and improvements. Lead program/ system research, analysis, detailed design and problem resolution. Respond to user enquiries on the data platform, in a timely manner. Troubleshoot and determine root cause and resolution for discovered application defects. Apply Software Development Life Cycle and Project Management Methodology to complete specific tasks for your data projects. Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise and keep up-to-date with leading-edge data science trends/developments. Develop expertise in data platform, infrastructure, data pipeline, analytical tools and design techniques that can contribute to effective solution development and delivery. Good communication, interpersonal, collaboration skills to work in an agile cross-functional team, with different stakeholders. A thirst for constantly exploring emerging technology such as Azure, python, R and R Studio, Tableau, Informatica. Familiarity with Jira and Confluence. Proficient with Excel, Visio, R and R Studio, SQL, some reporting and analytical tools. Proficient understanding of Data Modeling concepts. Prior experience in creating data visualizations for Business Presentations, Process and Data Flows. Good documentation skills; can produce data mapping between Source and Target Systems. Capture User Stories and Use Cases. Hands-on programming experience is an asset, which could include familiarity and strength in any of the following: C, C++, C#, Object C, Java, Java Script, Python, NodeJS, SQL, J2EE, Web Services, DB2, MS SQL.
