What you'll do

We need a detail-oriented, reliable, and trustworthyFinancial Operations Analyst to be part of our growing team.

You'll run the day-to-day accounting – classifying transactions in QBO, managing accounts payable and receivable, maintaining the general ledger, and keeping the books clean.
You'll oversee a highly complex invoicing process, where attention to detail and the ability to navigate challenging scenarios are essential.
You’ll develop and enforce well-maintained financial documents, policies, systems, and internal controls ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
You’ll prepare timely financial statements, reports, and cost-benefit analyses, including year-to-date actuals, forecasts, and variance explanations – on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
You'll evaluate marketing and channel performance through a financial lens – analyzing CAC, LTV, revenue per user, and ROI across SEO, paid media, and affiliate networks – translating data into clear, actionable recommendations that drive conversion and revenue growth.
You'll work with analytics and data visualization tools, alongside core financial platforms to extract insights, identify trends, and surface the data that matters most to the business.
You'll own the end-to-end financial operations of the GeniusCash rewards program – including weekly fulfillment validation and payment processing with the Customer Service team, fraud investigation, and reconciliation of manual approvals.
You’ll collaborate with the Sr. Finance Manager and other members of the senior leadership team to develop and implement financial strategies that align with and support the company’s objectives.
You'll connect the dots between financial results and company initiatives across all of our core teams to bolster positive revenue trends and short circuit negative ones.
You'll investigate and respond to all finance and accounting inquiries promptly and accurately.
You’ll oversee payroll, manage time-off tracking, and maintain process documentation, along with supporting a range of related operational tasks.
You’ll ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist with tax planning and filing.
You'll work closely with external contractors, clients, and affiliate partners.
You'll support stretch projects and assist the team as needed.
You'll wear many different hats in a lean, agile, and fast-paced culture.

You’ll act as the financial backbone of a lean startup. As a bootstrapped company, you'll wear many hats in a lean startup environment because we don't have layers of specialized staff. You'll own everything from day-to-day accounting tasks to reporting and investigations. This role offers variety, not specialization.

Accuracy is non-negotiable. We're a company that impacts people's money. Even small errors affect our relationships with banking partners, our founders' decision-making, and ultimately the Canadians who trust us. You'll need to bring the kind of care and attention to detail where double-checking is second nature, not a chore.

Process and consistency are your competitive advantage. We don't reinvent the wheel every month-end, we execute the playbook with discipline and precision. You’ll follow and maintain structured processes, ensuring consistency while improving them when better approaches are identified.

You’ll own the full-cycle with real, recurring deadlines – requiring end-to-end understanding of how money flows through a fintech company, along with exceptional execution and follow-through.

Responsiveness matters deeply. We expect responses within hours on Zoom and within a business day by email. You'll need to close every communication loop by confirming completion or passing the ball to the next person. If you're someone who lets messages sit or forgets to follow up, you'll struggle here.

Accountability is how we grow. When something goes wrong, we don't point fingers. We ask what we could have done differently and how we can capture those lessons into our processes. You'll be expected to take ownership of your work, proactively communicate when you need help, and deliver what you promised when you promised it.

You'll work independently most of the time. As a remote team, you won't have someone looking over your shoulder. You need to be a true self-starter who can figure things out, manage your own time, and stay productive without direct supervision.

Fast-paced means really fast-paced. We're a lean team executing ambitious projects. Some weeks will be intense. You'll need to juggle multiple priorities, think on your feet, and occasionally put in extra effort to meet deadlines.

The work matters. You're not just crunching numbers in isolation. The revenue data you compile informs strategic decisions. The GeniusCash validation work you do protects real Canadians from fraud and ensures they get the rewards they earned. Your accuracy, reliability, and follow-through have a direct impact on the people around you and the hundreds of thousands of Canadians we serve.

Who you are

You care about your work, you know your stuff, and you go the extra mile.

You live in Atlantic Canada, and are legally eligible to work in Canada.

You have a minimum of 3 years experience working in a finance and accounting role within a tech startup, or fast-growing company environment, especially in Fintech and/or a B2C business - and you bring strong data analysis skills with proven experience across a range of data visualization and reporting tools.
You have a BA in finance, business administration, accounting, or a related field – or relevant professional experience.
You have a CPA designation, are working towards one, or you have relevant hands-on experience that demonstrates equivalent financial acumen.
You have strong knowledge of federal and provincial laws, regulations, and ordinances pertaining to finance and accounting best practices.
You're proficient in QuickBooks Online and highly capable with spreadsheets and financial modeling tools.
You bring strong data analysis skills with proven experience using data visualization and reporting tools.
You don't rely on AI to do your job for you but you know how to integrate it into your daily workflow to maximize productivity.
You're organized and proactive – you manage competing deadlines without things slipping through the cracks.
You can think on your feet – no problem is too big and no question is too difficult – you know how to find the right answers, online and offline.
You're a self-starter, reliable, and trustworthy - you take ownership of your work, follow through on commitments, and communicate proactively when things change.
You pick up new tools and software quickly and are comfortable working across multiple platforms.
