As ForFarmers UK we sell products through both a field sales force and office based traders. Both sales channels currently operate relatively independently, resulting in a lack of cross selling and thus we are not capturing the full opportunity of our total feed offering. We recognise that there is a huge opportunity focusing on our palletised (minerals, fats, calf milk replacer, performance products) and straights product offering.

The new role of the Agri-Desk Sales Manager is to develop and manage an integrated telesales operation, bring commercial focus to our Agri-Desk service and offering, provide close management to the individuals in this team and ultimately to drive sales through this route to market. By working closely together with a number of field based account managers each of the Agri-Desk Sales Specialists have the responsibility to drive the sales of our traded product range, focusing firstly on our palletised product offering.

The manager of this department is responsible for driving and managing a fully functional trading team that cooperates seamlessly with our field sales force, the product / technical managers and the marketing department. The manager is tasked with the implementation of a highly professional way of working, driven through our CRM tool, focused on achieving the right activity levels in the Agri-Desk team and delivering sales results.

The Agri-Desk sales manager is expected to lead from the front and by example. Aligned to one of the field based sales team, the Agri-Desk manager will be responsible for hitting the budgeted margin and contribution targets for that team.

Over time the role of this team can be further extended into offering a broader range of products including products from our Monogastric business as well as offering remote services to customers to further increase the efficiency of our sales model.

Purpose of the Job

Development and management of an integrated Agri-Desk operation that will work together with our field sales force, in an improved way, and increase the level of cross-selling across our customer base. Aim is to significantly increase both the volume of sales and sales margin contribution through our telesales route to market. The activities of the Agri-Desk team need to be aligned with our overall and regional business strategies and support the realisation of these. Next to achieving the business results the purpose of the role is to establish a strong team that is an integral part of our business and to develop the people within the team.

Key Accountabilities

Achieving business results

Holds own sales ledger with targets and deliver on personal as well as team budget
Deliver and exceed the budget (volume & margin) for the telesales product categories – in cooperation with the sales teams.
Lead generation (compound/blend/forage/nutrition) for field sales force based on customer contacts and marketing campaigns
Defining new business opportunities and developing plans on how to capture

Implementing the ways of working

Manage the day to day operations of the Agri-Desk Account Manager Team (Office Based Account Managers)
Manage ways of working and expectations of the team
Launch and manage targeted product sales campaigns
Implement a transparent and clear steering mechanism for our telesales operation
Implement cooperation model between telesales team and the sales force primarily using C4C and in person team engagement
Work with technical / product managers on the use of the available farm diet information into our telesales process

People and organisational management

People management in line with policies and guidelines of ForFarmers
Training the people to become efficient and effective telesales operative that are knowledgeable in the different product categories (with the help of specialists)
Ensure adequate quantitative and qualitative staffing within agreed budget
Coaching, motivating and directing employees
Responsible for performance appraisal interviews

Qualifications

Clearly able to demonstrate success in a telesales environment
Telesales management experience
10 + years of working experience with 5+ years of leadership experience
Proactive / results driven
Coordinating, stimulating and facilitating skills
