About the Platform Engineering Lead role:

As thePlatform Engineering Lead at Float, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the reliability and stability of our system as we scale rapidly. Owning key system health metrics, you will lead the roadmap for our DevOps, Infrastructure, and Platform initiatives, collaborating with Engineering Leads across the business to prioritize and support domain ownership. This role is crucial for setting the strategic direction for Platform & Infrastructure and making informed investment decisions for Float's future.

In this role you will:

Infrastructure & Hosting: Ensure the seamless operation of our cloud infrastructure - servers, database, and network.
DevOps:Oversee code deployments, enhance observability, and boost developer productivity.
InfoSecurity:Manage ongoing compliance and address infosec cases proactively.
Collaborate with stakeholders, including co-founders and customers, to align the platform's roadmap with business needs and feedback.
Implement and refine processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality across the board.

You’ll be great in this role if:

You’ve got the experience.We’re looking for 8+ years of experience within Platform and DevOps Engineering, preferably in B2B SaaS, startup environments. Experience with business payments, banking and finance is a bonus. You’ve built out a function at an early-stage startup and are excited to do it all again.
You are an excellent cross-functional communicator.You effortlessly connect with any team in an org, especially Product, Risk, Compliance, and Software Engineering. You possess astute influencing skills, and you have the ability to bring multiple stakeholders together and problem-solve between various groups. You are a skilled listener who is able to understand and synthesize diverse perspectives and opinions.
You are motivated by being a leader.You’ve led a team before, and you're excited to continue to provide guidance and mentorship. You set a high bar for yourself and others, and enjoy fostering a culture of excellence and tenacity.
You’re a strategic thinker.You can create a vision, and you know how to execute it. You prioritize following a data-driven metrics approach. You can establish what needs to be done today vs what will be done tomorrow (getting into the weeds and focusing on taking small steps day to day).

You translate business requirements into technical specifications, overseeing the development process, and ensuring successful deployment. You are ready and willing to make tough decisions to achieve broader business goals and outcomes.
You’ve got an understanding of the market. You’ve worked with accounting/finance related products, or have worked closely with finance leaders. You’re commercially focused with an understanding of the market and the business we’re in. You’re no stranger to an ROI mindset.
