General Manager Finance

Community Care Trust Aotearoa (CCT) is looking for an experienced and commercially astute General Manager Finance to provide strategic, future-focused financial leadership across our organisation.

This is a senior role reporting directly to the Chief Executive, with the opportunity to influence organisational strategy, support governance and help ensure CCT remains financially sustainable and well positioned for the future.

Working 20 hours per week, this role could particularly suit an accomplished senior finance professional seeking a meaningful leadership position while retaining flexibility in their working life.

The opportunity

As General Manager Finance, you will be the Chief Executive's senior financial adviser and a trusted contributor to CCT's leadership and governance.

Rather than focusing primarily on transactional finance, your role will look ahead – providing the financial insight, modelling, challenge and advice that enables good decisions.

You will lead financial strategy, long-term planning, budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis, Board reporting, governance and financial risk. You will also provide strategic oversight of the Finance and Payroll functions, with the Accounts Manager retaining responsibility for day-to-day financial operations.

Your advice will help shape decisions about funding, service viability, investment, growth, organisational priorities and the effective stewardship of CCT's resources.

What you'll be doing

In this broad and influential role, you will:

Develop and maintain CCT's medium- to long-term financial strategy.

Provide independent, evidence-based financial advice to the Chief Executive, leadership teams, Finance and Risk Committee and Board.

Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, scenario modelling and cash-flow planning.

Turn financial information into clear insights, options and recommendations for decision-makers.

Analyse the financial viability of services, contracts, individual support arrangements and growth opportunities.

Support funding negotiations, pricing reviews, tenders and business cases.

Identify emerging financial risks and opportunities and recommend appropriate action.

Maintain strong financial governance, policies, controls, delegations and assurance arrangements.

Oversee audit preparation and key relationships with auditors, banks, insurers and professional advisers.

Lead and develop the Accounts Manager while providing strategic oversight of Finance and Payroll.

Improve financial literacy and accountability across CCT.

Work alongside Digital and Systems colleagues to strengthen financial systems, reporting, analytics and automation.

Contribute as an Organisational leader to strategy, major projects and continuous improvement.

About you

You will be an experienced finance leader who combines strong technical and commercial capability with sound judgement, integrity and the confidence to influence at senior levels.

You can move comfortably between strategy and detail. You understand the numbers, but more importantly, you can explain what they mean, why they matter and what the organisation should do next.

You will bring:

Substantial senior financial-management experience in a complex, labour-intensive, multi-million-dollar organisation.

Experience providing strategic financial advice to Chief Executives, executive teams, Boards or Board committees.

Advanced budgeting, forecasting, scenario-modelling, cash-flow and commercial-analysis capability.

Strong knowledge of financial governance, internal controls, audit, risk management and New Zealand accounting requirements.

Experience leading and developing finance professionals.

The ability to build financial capability and confidence among non-finance leaders.

Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.

Confidence to question assumptions and provide constructive, independent challenge.

High-level capability with financial systems, Excel and reporting or business-intelligence tools.

The ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and deliver a significant portfolio within a part-time role.

You will hold a relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or commerce and current membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) or an equivalent recognised professional accounting body.

A full, current New Zealand driver licence and willingness to travel when required are also essential.

It would be an advantage if you have

Experience in the disability, health, social-services, charitable or NGO sectors would be valuable, as would experience with government-funded contracts, service costing, tendering, funding negotiations, payroll or finance-system transformation.
