In this role, you’ll be making some of the most significant decisions for the company. You’ll get to work with other engineers to build delightful features that span various parts of the system, as well as our business, sales, and operations teams to understand and solve our users’ pain points. Familiarity with lending and financial services is a plus;otherwise, you must demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and grow your understanding, which our team will support fully.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain scalable software solutions by thinking carefully about component design and modularity (we lean towards clean/onion architecture)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand borrower acquisition, verification, underwriting, origination, servicing, and back-office functions (learning the domain is a big part of working at Canopy)
Participate in product problem selection, product problem validation, and make sure you understand the problem space and desired outcomes
Contribute to and manage architecture decision records (ADR) and RFCs to ensure system quality
Manage deployments and on-call rotations with a "you write it, you own it" mentality, supported by our DevOps team at all times. Given our high SLA, the estimated actual time you might need to address any alerts is very low. On average, you might expect fewer than one incident per month, with each incident typically requiring around 1.5 hours to resolve
Build cool things with cool people

Your First Six Months:

Onboard and understand the system, with proactive onboarding sessions with our engineering team
Learn about your pod, the history of your pod, and how your pod prefers to work
Start specializing in a specific area of the servicing domain and become an owner
Refactor at least one subsystem to improve modularity and reduce coupling
Run one deployment processes and take on-call rotations
Write and manage multiple ADRs and think creatively to simplify systems

$170,000 - $200,000 a year

The posted range for this role is based on candidates who reside in the United States. Compensation is commensurate with experience as well as location.
