Our mission at Black Girls Code (BGC) is to ensure that Black girls* believe they belong in tech and launch them with the skills, opportunities, and resources to lead. We partner with schools, companies, local organizations, and dedicated volunteers to offer a range of in-person and virtual learning opportunities that build the skills and relationships our girls need to thrive.Our eyes are ever-set upon launching one million Black girls into tech by 2040.

POSITION

We’re looking for someone with a strong background in grant writing, excellent research and communication skills, and a passion for BGC’s mission. Reporting to the Vice President of Development and working closely with the VP of Development Operations, the Institutional Grant Manager will be responsible for researching, writing, submitting, and stewarding grant proposals to institutions and foundations to secure funding for our programs and projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain a portfolio of institutional funders under $25,000.
Research prospective institution and corporate grant opportunities that align with the BGC’s mission and programs.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive grants calendar, including deadlines, requirements, and reporting timelines.
Write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and grant reports that effectively communicate BGC’s goals, objectives, and impact.
Collaborate with program staff to gather information, data, and outcomes for grant proposals and reports.
Manage the grant application process from start to finish, including submission, follow-up, and reporting requirements.
Execute acknowledgement letters and facilitate grant contracts/agreements, as well as all necessary supporting materials and documents including budget reports, outcome measurements, and success stories to submit reports to funders.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with foundation representatives and other potential funders.
Stay informed about trends and best practices in institution and corporate grant funding and incorporate new strategies into grant writing efforts.
Assist with other fundraising activities and initiatives as needed.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grant writing, with a successful track record of securing corporate and institutional grants.
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling grant proposals and reports.
Strong research skills, with the ability to gather and synthesize information from multiple sources.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency in Google Workspace, grant management software, and donor databases; Salesforce preferred.
Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising principles and practices, including donor cultivation and stewardship.
Passion for the BGC’s mission and commitment to making a positive impact in the community.

$85,000 - $95,000 a year
