Responsibilities

Accurately code all medical diagnoses and procedures using proper coding systems such as ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
Review and analyze clinical documentation to ensure the accuracy and completeness of coded data.
Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures when necessary.
Maintain coding compliance with federal, state, and payor regulations.
Conduct regular audits and reviews of coded records to ensure adherence to best practices.
Stay updated on changes in coding regulations and guidelines to ensure quality of work.
Assist in training and mentoring new staff on coding procedures and standards.

Certification as a Medical Coder (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) is preferred.
Proven experience in medical coding, preferably in a healthcare setting.
Thorough understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Familiarity with coding software and electronic health record systems.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
