Versent is looking for passionateSite Reliability Engineer to join ourglobal (remote) Product Engineering teams in the USA.

You will be working on agloballydistributedidentity and access managementplatform driving theAWS infrastructure to support over 60 customers worldwide. You will be working withanestablishedVersent engineering teamand collaborate withourcustomer’s own engineering teams, as well as SRE peersin othertimezonesas part ofa“follow theSun” operations model.

In your roleyou will be proactivelymonitoring the health of theplatform to ensureavailability, performance, andreliability. Day-to-day you will be completing deployments into production,responding to customerissues,resolving technical debt,anddeveloping new featuresto improvethe operational resiliency and efficiency of the product.

This role has an on-call rotation to respond and resolve operational incidents and implement corrective engineering.

You’ll get hands-on experience in contributing to detailed design work, story elaboration,participating in AGILE ceremonies and producing engineering artefacts to the agreed team ways of working standards.You’ll be able to independently contribute with the support of Lead and Senior Engineers.

We are open to a remote working engineer along the Westcoast.

Areas of Primary Responsibility

The SREteamis responsible formaintaining the availability of the platform for its customers and administrators. The SREs will workalongside the development teams to ensure the product being delivered is supportable, scalable, and resilient within a production environment

Technical Design

Positively and respectfully contributeto design discussions within the team, then accept consensus outcome and commit to completing works with grace.

Engineering

Maintain 24/7 support coverage for all production environments across AU/EU/US

Ensure all service desk tickets are acknowledged and completed within the given SLAs

Develop andmaintain logging,monitoring and alertingon all APIs, factories, CDE compute and network infrastructure

Develop andmaintain backup and restoreprocessesto ensurebusiness continuity of the product within specified non-functional requirements

Provide and develop engineering improvements for system stability across the platform

Provideautomatedsystemsto allowself-service forwiderinternalteams to consume

Develop automation tooling toassist with manual processes

Activelymaintain platform documentation and runbooks

Holding and recording post incident reviews,identifying route causes, and implementing corrective engineering

Produce suitably engineered code solutions to platform and operations problems

Act as an engineer to solve problems using domain knowledge and contribute to engineering outputs to a production level quality, through the production of code artefacts.

Take on technical advice from leaders via code reviews, technicalguidance and training.

Complete stories within a sprint as per the agreed acceptance criteria

Contribute to work elaboration and design

Requirements

You have a tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Engineering discipline OR at least 2 years hands-on experience in Site Reliability and Observability Engineering, debugging,diagnosing and correcting errors and resolving high severity incidents

You have commercial experience in Python

You have hands-on development experience with cloud infrastructure and tooling (AWS, Lambda, Step Functions, CI/CD pipelines &Cloudformation) includingIaC frameworks such asCloudformation, Terraform, Ansible, etc.
Experience withAWS Ecosystem: EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, VPC networking, IAM, Step Functions, AWS Lambda, AWS Step Functions, CloudFormation

You have deep knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS), and direct experience with at least one of the major cloud providers and managing Kubernetes clusters

You understand defensive programming, circuit breakers, resilience frameworks, fault tolerance, and self-healing mechanisms of services

You have experience working on various monitoring, and alerting tools

You have handled multiple on callshifts, and have navigated more than one incident through to the retrospective post incident review process.

You have a willingness and are comfortable communicating remotely through chat, docs, video calls, and other collaborative online tools and experience with collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence or Google workspace (Google suite)
