The role

Americans receive ~$400B in tax refunds per year. A tax refund is in essence an interest free loan to the government. The average American overpays their taxes by ~$3K per year. We plan to change that by being an AI enabled automated tax

specialist for the 80% of Americans that receive a tax refund. Our existing system has optimized tax withholdings for over 1M Americans so far, but we have plans to go much further.

We’re adding a Product Engineers to our team to help monetize and scale our tax product (PayBoost). You'll work closely with business operations and the core services engineering team to deliver a product that scales and just works. Projects

will include an update to our AI architecture, a potential rewrite to separate the service from our monolith, updates to our existing data models,99.99% reliability/uptime, and creating additional visibility into the core components for monitoring.

The tech stack

Our backend tech stack is based on GCP, Go, protobufs, BigQuery and MySQL. We have built our platform from the ground up to optimize for clean data sources, and we have made numerous investments into data warehousing, streaming analytics infrastructure and offline data cleanliness. As a result, we think Grid is positioned for efficient and powerful data science.
